Curating Your Life with Endo

This week, I had a catch-up call with one of our clients (we do these monthly with all of our online personal training clients), and I wanted to share something I know so many of you can relate to. It was one of those conversations that hit home for me, and I think it might do the same for you.

She had her first endo surgery five months ago but is still struggling with pain. And unfortunately, the surgeon didn’t get every last bit of endo (which, let’s be real, happens way more often than it should). So, even after the surgery, the pain persists.

We had a raw and honest conversation about how, despite wishing we didn’t have to deal with this pain, it’s the reality for so many of us. But the big question is, what can we do? The answer is that while we can’t always control the pain, we can manage it and curate our lives around it to create the best quality of life possible.

Here’s how we started curating her "endo life" together, and maybe it’ll help you too:

1. Tune Into Your Cycle

We began by really tuning into her cycle, breaking it down phase by phase. By mapping out what her symptoms typically look like at different points in the month, she’s now able to anticipate what’s coming. Knowing what to expect and when can help with both planning and mental preparation, making those tough days feel a little more manageable.

2. Design Your Days

We then designed a day-by-day "period empowerment plan," especially focusing on her hardest days. When you know ahead of time what you can or can’t do during your worst week, it makes a world of difference. It’s all about finding ways to adjust your daily activities to fit how you’re feeling, so you’re not pushing yourself too hard when you really need rest.

3. Focus on the Basics

We also discussed the basics—what’s essential that week, what can wait, and what can be delegated. Some weeks, it’s about asking for help or leaving certain tasks for when you feel better. Prioritizing the most important things and letting the rest fall to the side is key. It helps to reduce unnecessary stress and prevent burnout when you're already feeling low.

4. Pain Management Strategies

Finally, we dove into pain management options. From heating pads and gentle movement to OTC pain relief and low-dose edibles (my personal go-to on the worst days), we explored several options. We even talked about looking into acupuncture. Sometimes, it’s the small things that can make a huge difference in how we navigate our pain.

Living with endo is hard. But the more we curate our lives to fit our needs, the more empowered we feel. You deserve to live a life where your endo doesn’t dictate everything, and that’s exactly what we’re working on together.

It’s about taking back control where we can, adjusting our expectations, and finding ways to live well, even when pain tries to steal the show. This is what curating your life with endo looks like. If you're ready to start taking control of your own "endo life," let’s talk and work through it together. You deserve it.
